Hi! We are the Brown family and we go by Route Down. We are traveling the world with the philosophy that the journey is the destination. Travel is our thing. Whatever that thing is for you,

“Don’t Wait…. This is Not A Trial Run”.

Reviews

We are sharing our very first review on an airline! We flew Hawaiian Airlines three times while in the Pacific. We will show a comparison of economy class on Hawaiian and their competitor, Southwest. We will also show the comparison between their Extra Comfort Class and First Class, specifically between Honolulu and Pago Pago in American Samoa.

Reviews

Frenchman Valley Campground in the Grasslands National Park is a unique park compared to any of the others we have visited in Canada or the United States! Prairie grasslands for as far as the eye can see!

In this video, we wanted to clear up some of the things we were unsure about and reassure our RV friends, especially those in big rigs, that this campground is accessible to you too! Enjoy!

How To

After 18 months on the road and with consistent use, it was time to replace a snapped Splendide dryer belt. We will walk you through the entire process with details you will need to complete the job.

The Journey

The last year has exposed us to some of the most beautiful places that the United States and Canada have to offer. In this Year In Review, we share some of our highlights so that you can get an idea of why we chose this life. Ultimately, we make this to share and remind everyone that the time you have is precious.

Spend it wisely.

The Journey

Well, we didn’t actually spend Christmas at the North Pole, but we do get to share the North Pole with you from warmer months! In this one, we check out many parts of Fairbanks and extend our tour after sharing the Museum of the North in the last episode. In this episode, we share with you:

  1. “Greetings from Fairbanks Alaska” Wall
  2. Griffin Park
  3. Moose Antler Arch
  4. The Alaska Pipeline
  5. Gold Daughters
  6. The North Pole (Santa’s House)

Podcast

We are excited to share with you the podcast “Drop the Coconut”, hosted by our new friend Roi Perets. Roi and his husband Ron Thurston are traveling the U.S. in an Airstream and we got the opportunity to get to know them a bit while in Malibu and San Diego, California. We have really enjoyed getting to know them. Both are deep thinkers, each with their own unique way of reflecting on this journey we are on.  We highly recommend getting to know Roi and Ron!

While in San Diego, we sat down with Roi to share our story about making the jump to  traveling full-time with our family and creating this Route Down life. We talked about community, the kids, our careers, health, and so much more. Drop the Coconut is all about letting go and there were many things we let go of in order to live this new and amazing life we are living. Frankly, we are all still working on some of them!

We hope you enjoy this podcast and are able to find some things to take away and reflect on for yourself. Thank you to our new friends Roi and Ron the amazing opportunity and for hosting us in their super cool Airstream studio!

Blog

Approaching 19 months on the road, the education of both our kids continues to be the priority. V, our oldest, has discovered a passion for astrophotography and is showing immense promise out of the gate while completing his curriculum at school, ahead of schedule, and with top marks. In this latest update, we focus on V’s development and newly found passion for the skies above.

The Journey

Our first stop in Fairbanks, Alaska is the Museum of the North which is located at the University of Alaska. Home/road schooling our kids is the priority and we also take great joy in experiencing the culture, history, and learning that comes with traveling full-time. We will show you around the museum with one of the highlights being The Magic Bus (Bus 142).

The Journey

Denali has quite a lot to talk about and has one of the most elusive views sought after in a national park. We are able to bring you views from above and from the ground. This video focuses on the details you need to visit and helps you decide where in the area you may want to stay.

The Journey

Our Alaska tour got some air time as we travel by plane to Utqiagvik, otherwise known as Barrow Alaska. In our 25-hours on the ground, we cover some of the things we learned during that time, the Top of the World hotel, Point Barrow, how to move around in Utqiagvik, and more!

The Journey

While in Seward we make sure to tend to our physical and mental health, visit the Alaska Sealife Center, and put in one of the best hikes we have ever done at the Kenai Fjords National Park, Exit Glacier!

The Journey

As we continue our summer tour of Alaska, we visit Soldotna (a fishing mecca), Homer and the surrounding area. As usual, Alaska impresses!

Reviews

We found a great jump-off point in Palmer Alaska. The owners of Paradise Alaska are super cool and we want to share this one with you. Also, we had a great time in Palmer and Anchorage!

Long time no see! We had to do a review on a recent stay in Mathis TX. You’ve probably never heard of it, but if you are looking for a hidden gem between Corpus and San Antonio… you can find it here.

The Journey

Happy New Year! In this video we get everyone an update on how we have progressed since launching from Texas in July of 2021. We also put together a Year In Review of some of our favorite moments. Enjoy!

In this video, we do a quick review on Driftwood Too in Cape May Court House, New Jersey. Overall a very nice stay with some minor things worth mentioning!!

In this one, we visit New York state and aim to inspire a new perspective of what people think of when they think “New York”. We really enjoyed our 2-weeks in New York and know we could easily spend more time here without really making a dent.

In this video, we share with you our Blackstone griddle, how we connect it to “Mojo” our Momentum 397TH, and all the things you will need if you want to follow suit. Enjoy!
